The second-hand marketplace Users Voice Anger Regarding Size Modifications
Vinted users have been reacting angrily following a change that caused listings displaying inaccurate size information.
This online marketplace has updated its size classifications for female and kids' apparel without notifying all shoppers about the modification.
Digital Channels Backlash
Many shoppers and sellers are posting online stating that platform listings now display an altered size classification versus the original listing because of the remapping.
The platform stated the updated approach better aligns with comparable marketplaces.
It has advised users to check their listings and adjust the sizing manually when needed, which has left users frustrated.
Size Classification Updates
Earlier, the sizing featured numerical and alphabetical indicators, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features a letter with a size spectrum for example S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the sizing has been recategorised - like an L measurement used to be a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
User Stories
A fashion influencer, who produces content about larger sizing, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
Another user, located in Scotland, explained products she uploaded featuring size 14 markings were appearing on the platform as larger sizing 20-22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they will likely be quite upset," she explained.
Manual Updates
Charlotte Lunn, located in England, said she had been left angered because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizing for "all her products".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, since I have chronic health issues and Vinted sales have been crucial after experiencing income reduction," she explained.
Platform Context
The app has more than 100 million users, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has emerged as a preferred choice compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time that an unexpected update on the platform has faced criticism: last year, the service retracted a modification to its shipping options due to shopper criticism.
